Senior Actuarial Manager

Salama Abusalim has joined Allied Actuarial Consultancy (AAC) late 2016. She works as an Actuarial Manager heading the Life and Employees’ Benefits Department. Salama is responsible for many valuation projects of end of service benefits as per the requirements of IAS 19 for companies operating in Jordan, Saudi and the rest of GCC countries. In addition, Salama is responsible for the valuation of the mathematical reserve for several insurance companies.

Salama holds the following professional and educational credentials:

  • Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) in the UK

  • Master degree in Actuarial Management with Distinction from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK (2015)

  • Master degree in Actuarial Science with Distinction from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK (2012)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science with Distinction from the University of Jordan (2008)

Salama was awarded Chevening scholarship – the UK government’s global scholarship program that is awarded to outstanding professionals from over 160 countries around the world.

Before joining AAC, Salama has worked as Actuarial Analyst for the Palestinian Pension Agency (PPA), where she participated in several projects in cooperation with the World Bank and the Intentional Labor Organization (ILO) to prepare actuarial studies and reform plans of the pension schemes administrated by the PPA. Her role in the PPA involved data validation and analysis, preparing regular statistical reports and preparing proposals to improve the databases in order to meet the requirement of conducting actuarial valuations. She also participated in preparing strategic studies related to the policy of managing pension funds, coverage expansion, measuring the financial impact of early retirement and estimating the cost of transferring members from phasing-out pension schemes to the unified pension scheme.
